# Load Dataset Upload

Ingest an uploaded file into the dataset — append to its rows, or REPLACE them.

`updateMode: "override"` is how a CSV dataset stays current without becoming a new dataset: the rows are swapped, the dataset keeps its id and its `cleanSQLName`, and every dashboard, alert and query bound to it goes on reading the same alias — now with today's data. Omit `updateMode` and the dataset's own `config.<type>.updateMode` decides (default `append`).

The response echoes the EFFECTIVE mode.
