# Mark Dataset Ready

Return a FAILED dataset to READY WITHOUT re-ingesting — for the case where the failure left the Iceberg table intact (e.g. a compaction that crashed before touching it). Admin or Creator role, plus edit permission.

The table must pass an integrity check first: metadata loads, a current snapshot exists, and its data files can be read. On success the dataset is READY, `errorMessage` is cleared, `lineCount`/`sizeInBytes` are re-synced from the snapshot, and the action is audit-logged (`dataset.mark_ready`) with the caller. If the check fails the dataset stays FAILED → 409 `dataset_mark_ready_integrity_failed` with the reason. Not FAILED → 409 `dataset_mark_ready_requires_failed`.
